Texas Legends Game in Frisco, Texas

The Texas Legends are the Dallas Mavericks' NBA D-League team located in Frisco, Texas. Frisco is a large suburb a few miles north of Dallas, a monument to sprawl and shopping. The Legends host their games in Dr Pepper Arena, just down the road from a large mall and an Ikea. The arena is a little Spartan, but it's cozy.

The Legends are a minor league basketball team, so you don't come to the game expecting the best talent. You come for the promotions, the fun of a basketball, and the occasional NBA veteran trying to resurrect their career. Sometimes it's fun to just watch a game without caring about the score.

There's also a dog mascot who's pretty friendly.

Behind both baskets is an area where kids can play games, jump in a bounce house, and ride an inflatable slide. There's a guy who does tricks, like spinning a basketball on a ten foot pole. I'm sure this is great if you're a kid. But it's really distracting if you're trying to watch the game, especially if you have seats by the baskets.

The best part of the experience, however, is after the game. Once the final buzzer sounds, the entire Texas Legends team stays on the court for a meet and greet with fans. They'll sign autographs and take pictures. Some will even chat with you.

Even the security guards are accommodating.

A Legends game doesn't have the glamour of an NBA game, but it does have friendly, hardworking people who know how to put on an entertaining basketball experience.
